The Gospel and Yourself

infinite sushi

people. helpingotherpeople. practically.

When I clean my house I often turn on music or listen to a podcast and this Sunday morning I decided to turn on Tim Keller, who is a pastor working in Manhattan. The sermon was call "The Gospel and Yourself" and it had moved me to tears. My biggest desire for myself and for Kristopher is for us to be centered around service to the Lord by serving the people around us in practical ways. And it is so easy to slip into this state-of-mind that God is your assistant that he is there to grant you three wishes and you immediately ask for infinite wishes and you then after you ask for infinite sushi or something…
This sermon was just a slap in the face. I need to serve. It's the least I can do. It's the only thing I can do. It's the reason I need to be a doctor. It's the way I get to express my love for the Lord and his creation. It's the way I get to experience his love for his creation. His holiness.
I wish this were more eloquent. I haven't been moved to tears or action like that in a long time.
I just had to share.

Yes! Love. I've been reading Counterfit God's that your dad gave me and I just finished it. Super good and convicting. I can't wait to download that sermon.
