Springtime Weather- 4 for 4

Um, it's been in the 60s for a few days this week.

Kind. Of. Awesome.

It's got me thinking about all the things I love to do in in the springtime here in the city...

1. Wear stripes. It's true, stripes are cutest in the spring.

2. Sip cappuccinos at my fav coffee shop... outside... with a close friend.

3. Paint my nails pretty pinks and... Lookout! Snappy coral! Ooh la la!

4. Take strolls through the city enjoying all of the new blossoms.

Ah Spring! I love you more each year...
Happy weekend lovelies!

Deposit Closit: Racha's 5 for 5

Five things I'm loving to help pull off a series of successful all nighters (and to help distract yourself when you overestimate the level of caffeine to homework ratio causing inappropriate restlessness):

1. McSweeney's 'til daybreak for the sleep challanged
2. Coke Zero-less fizzy than regular coke, but just as sweet
3. Pop-up Books-to help guide you in the journey to build your own pop-up book. Yesterday I worked from 5-2. Totally breezed through three and a half glue sticks.
4. Midnight brownies and kale slaw
5. Law and order:SVU- thirteen seasons, 23 episodes per season...you do the math.

Cat Heavy: Racha's 4 for more

I don't like cats.
But....
They're tough not to love when you strap them into a snuggie, tie kitten mittens to their feet
and force them to model their outfit for you.
They're tough not to love when they just give up trying to walk in their little plaid boots and so they just take a few steps and roll over.
They are also SUPER not tough to love when they fit in the palm of Krissy-fers hand,
or rub themselves on your glitter boots and become glitter kittens...

uh-oh,
maybe I don't totally hate this cat's glittery guts?
I've got a lot of soul searching to do...

The great boot Trade: Rachel's 5 for 5

Five reasons my mom should trade boots with me:
The last time I saw my mom she let me borrow her grey suede boots. They are incredible and so, riding the wave, I ended up quasi-impulse buying myself a pair of grey boots. I have since decided that my mom and I should trade.
So mom, here is my argument:
1) My boots are a little too urban sophisticate, you know, a little too 'Jenny from the block'. I'm not at that point in my life yet. I'm still learning basic hygiene skills, I can't wear fancy lady boots like you could wear these mom…because you're the fanciest of ladies.
2) Your boots are over the knee and mine are at at the knee. I feel that the over the knee boot would make more sense on me since I don over the knee skirts at a higher frequency than you. Not that you couldn't wear over the knee skirts, heck, you could go out in your underpants and be okay. You've got some great gams! I could totally see you classily shopping for fruit and then whipping it up into an equally classy headdress, a la Carmen Miranda, in something like this:
but that's besides the point…
3) You like Franco Sarto, which is what my boots are. I like BCBG, which is what your boots are. Why did we switch brands like that? It feels a little unnatural, don't you think?
4) The boot trade will require us being near each other. Which is always a lovely time. Also, I've only worn my boots twice, so they's supra new. Also, It'll make hannah and Ina really happy.
5) I'll throw in a box of See's with the deal, free medical care for the rest of your life, and a homemade thank you note!

The ball is in your court mom, I think you know what to do...

Mid-terms: what's up with that?

Mid-terms have  been blowing my brains out this week
and they plan on contiuing through to the next
so the theme of this 5 for 5 is going to be

5 things I 'd rather be doing than studying the bloods and the guts.

Enjoy:

1. Stare at a blank wall

2. Shovel biscoff in my mouth while I smother under 12 down comforters softly crying to Mariah Carey's hit single "Hero"

3. In-line skate

4. Pretend to like Norah Jones so Kristopher will get off my back about how I think she makes dumb music.

5. Hang out with the cat...wait, I take it back, too far...I went too far with that one

But I guess what I'd mostly rather be doing is this

Miss you hansie bannansie-

Caulifower Crust Pizza
(not better than real pizza, though, not worse. On par. On par with real pizza.)

What it feels like to ace three exams in a row
(incredible)

Getting my ducks in a row to volunteer in the emergency department
(pumped.)

Bubble Bath Study Sessions
(All day, every day)

A Dating Guide for the Undatable: Rachel's 5FOR5

I don't know if I ever told you this guys. But I am really bad at dates. I blame it on the fact that I've only ever been on one. And that was with Kristopher. He thinks it's weird that I've only ever dated one guy, but I  was kinda too busy loving school and going through my awkward stage(even though when I was in it, I didn't feel awkward....which is kind of the key, I think).

Awkward Stage Fact: A conservative estimate of how much I wore this green coat would be every day for three years. Even in the summer.
Anywayz, last tuesday Krister and I had an amazing date. And, upon further analysis (and a forced sense of 5 for 5 structure), I have come up with 5 things one can do to ensure a successful date:
checking out some local 5th grade art
1.Do something that provokes discourse:
Kristopher and I went and saw "Page One" which is some propaganda about the New York Times.

2.Go get tapas:
This is totally necessary. Do not go for coffee. Do not go for dinner. Go to a tapas bar.
Do not confuse with topless bar.

3. Discuss it:
Really juice those mind grapes. Open up those brainsickles.

4. After you're done comparing notes, segue into lighter conversation i.e. how soft their earlobes are, or, how you've been secretly taking photos of them sleeping ever since you've been married.

5. Pay for the tapas and NEVER call what you just did a date. Because that will just jinx it. Seriously, or the cat gets it.

Do it to it-

Double Cherry Pepsi: Rachel's 5 for 5

Kristopher's up in SP finishing out his summer job which means I'm down here
for school.
He won't move down here in three weeks, but there will be intermittent visits in between then and now.
I only cried once, which I take as a sign of relationship maturity.
Brava! Brave Rachel! Brava!

Onto my 5 for 5 entitled

"distractions from my love connection being temporarily lengthened and full of static
,or,
why some couples just aren't phone talkers:
an unrecognized pandemic"

1. Lots of diet cherry pepsi. I like to drink a bunch and let the subsequent hiccups break up the silence in this lovelorn cave.

2.Throwning myself into my schoolwork. Which, fortunately for me, is the norm for pre-meds.

rag curls with muh sis
3. Rag curls. KKat hates when I wear them...kind of like how I hate that we now have a cat.

4. Meatloaf...veganized....nothing goes better with heartbreak than a loaf of faux meat and a bottle of ketchup (expect recipe soon).

5. Mister Krister's weekend visit. During which, I will keep my hand firmly glued to his rear end.
Because it is cute, and because that is where the money is stored.
Just kidding, but seriously.

with the last beat of my heart-
