The Weekend in Review... wrapped up blessings.

The past two weekend have basically been two day blessings all wrapped up and smashed between ridiculously full weeks. And guys- It's been wonderful.

Last weekend was spent catching up with some of my dearest friends. we spent most our time cracking up and smooshing these adorable cheeks. Yikes. She is the death. of. me.

This weekend was no different... My handsome cousin graduated from the first level of Navy Seal boot camp (hip hip hooray!) and his girlfriend and my aunt and uncle came up for the graduation. It was so fun to have family in town. Most of our time was spent walking around, eating way too much and drinking even more coffee. Love.

I tell you, with such an insane schedule these days, it's such a blessing to have these little wrapped up weekends.

Hope yours was just as lovely!

Happy Monday!
(Only 5 more days until we get to unwrap the next one!)

pajamas in the park, paintballs in my eyes

What a weekend of realizations.

1. You can wear anything out if you put a fur coat over it. Case in point.
Pa-ya-mas.

2. Farmers market saturday's will be ending soon.
Boo-hoo.

3. While playing cards with the oldsters, kristopher and I volunteered to help with the halloween party they throw.
And then we volunteered to face paint
and make food
and bring candy
and decorate
and I thought it'd be fun to make spare masks
and then kristopher volunteered to read historical fiction
and then we realized that we have only so many hours in the day....

BUT the most important take away point,
is that you can now wear PJ's fashionably.
And therefore it should be done.
That's probably going to be this weeks clothes stealers.
I'd love to see some variations on the motif, if you guys want in?

Bath Salts+Compositions

potential back to school outfit

First day of school today.
And
Am
PUMPED.
I love school, I would have married school if Kristopher didn't get to me first.
But to give the final heave-ho to summer I spent yesterday making homemade tomato sauce,
picking flowers at this great little "u-pick" flower place, cleaning, and buying new lipstick and composition notebooks.
AND infusing bath salts with orange peppermint from the garden.
So, yeah, I think I padded my last day with enough activities to complete the obligatory back to school essay entitled "what I did this summer."

Now if the weather would just get down to a balmy 65 I could wear all those fall sweaters without sweating too much.
Because I am going to wear fall sweaters whether it is 61 or 91.
Because school is back in session.

This week was busting with wonderfulness... b-uh-sting!
5 reasons it was wu-huh-nder-full...

1. Glitter. Loving anything and everything glittery... including my new $4 ballet flats. Love!
2. Hubs sent in his garmin watch to be repaired... they sent back two! Bonus!!
Don't worry... we're on the up and up around here... Hubs is going to send the extra one back.
3. Oh manis and pedis... I love you so!
4. Packing... (while I generally hate packing just about as much as I hate unpacking...
case in point... It's been just over 2 months since I got back from China and I have one completely full bag still packed... meh.
I have been throwing it all in a suitcase because one of the Hub's and my favs is getting married this weekend... Hooray!

My Cup Runneth Over... The Weekend in Review.

Do you ever have those moments or days when your heart is so full of joy it could just burst?
Hubs and I had a day just like that this Saturday...

We woke up later than usual... Went for a run...
then ran to the church to...
Watch this adorable couple get married...
(The Hubs video taped the ceremony and I helped prepare the food for the reception while I flaunted it in my $10 dress I got in China!!)...
We took our time getting home from the wedding, stopping to grocery shop along the way...
The Hubs bought me beautiful tulips and I bought him a watermelon... ah love...
We spent the rest of the night doing a little crafting... watching a movie and munching on homemade burritos! Yum!

It was a simple enough day... but just one of those days where you're reminded so clearly of God's sweet goodness in your life... you know?
My heart is bursting, my cup runneth over, I'm clicking my heels...
I'm thankful and happy.
How was your weekend friends?? Do tell...

Cinco de Ocho... the Weekend in Review....

This weekend was busy with a lot of things...
Date night with the Hubs, sewing... sewing... and more sewing for EttaGrace
church, phone chat with my beautiful Mama, and...
dun dun dun...
"Cinco de Ocho"!!!!
"Cinco de Ocho" started exactly five years ago (this year we actually celebrated "Cinco Cinco de Ocho"!)
What started as a simple Cinco de Mayo party, quickly turned into an off-beat annual tradition....
Exactly five years ago my girlfriends and I decided to throw a party for Cinco de Mayo... Unfortunatley, none of our friends were available on the 5th... turns out everyone was free on the 8th instead... So we sent out the invite encouraging all to attend our 1st annual Cinco de Ocho" party...
Only until half the invites had been sent out did we realize that we should have been inviting everyone to an Ocho de Mayo party.... Fortunately for us, none of the people we invited actually spoke spanish... The "glitch" in our translation ended up being a hit and "Cinco de Ocho" stuck!
So every year... on May 8th, we celebrate "Cinco de Ocho" instead of Cinco de Mayo
(let's be honest... that holiday is so over done... he he he....)
Where we serve the traditional "Cinco de Ocho" cupcake cake (thanks Carley), Elz-a-Bell's sangria, Si-Fri's perfect nacho cheese... and of course a pinata c/o Moi!

It was a good weekend friends... jam packed with "Cinco de Ocho" goodness and some Mama celebration!

How was your weekend friend?

Adore Mucho- Hans

PS... Stay tuned for the giveaway winner and another giveaway... what!?!?!?

Transition to Bocce Ball: Weekend in Review

Sun all weekend...
and just in time, because renaissance fair was this weekend. There was a disappointing lack of turkey legs and ren-wear but the elephant ears and armor helped heal the wound.

Also, my sister-in-law Laura made her own swimsuit from SCRATCH (no pattern) on Friday.
I cannot wait to try it myself once schools out.
two  weeks. two more weeks.

Sunday afforded a chance at an impromptu bocce ball game. Sweet.

Do you ever get crabby for no reason? Of course you do. Everybody does.
That was what I was like Sunday...from the time I woke up until around 2 in the afternoon, I just could not kill that funk. And usually funk is a good thing, but not this time. I think the bocce ball helped.
Anyway, this is what my funk face looks like when I have to fake a smile:

many buckets of adulations-

This weekend was full of BBQ's, art shows and secret restaurant finds.

So, yeah, it was fun.

Make sure you pick up a box of peeps and roast them over an open flame.
Caramelized peep.
yum.
