Locomotive Clothing Co.- 15% off everything use discount code: ETTAGRACE
Locomotive's husband and wife team are Jay and Aaron Matte. They live, create and garden in a sweet little Vancouver area house. Current obsessions are vintage Canadiana, trains (always), old school farm equipment, hearts, music, pop culture, vintage lace, circus imagery, apothecary, nature and science. They hand screen print, spray paint and applique their graphics on quality cotton tshirts, long sleeves, hoodies, tank tops and onesies for guys, gals and tots.
Baymut- 10% off all brooches use discount code: ETTAGRACE
Lena is the creative genius behind Baymut and lives in Ukraine. Her art, which she absolutely loves, gives her so much freedom where her imagination never stops. Wool is a very plastic material which makes it possible to create anything imaginable. Things turn out warm, cozy and bewitching. She makes her designs in gentle wet felting technique, so she doesn't use any electric or mechanical devices. Only wool, natural soap and her hands! She also uses only cold water, since hot water destroys those useful properties of lanolin in wool. We think her items are just gorgeous!

Woolbuddy- 20% off of everything use discount code: WB2011
Jackie Huang is a 3D story artist and art teacher whose passion for art transcends the boundaries of various art forms. Three years ago, Jackie discovered the art of needle felting (a form of hand-sculpting objects with wool). What started as a hobby soon became a way for Jackie to bring his designs to life and offer each of his characters a distinct personality, look, and feel. In 2009, Jackie created WoolBuddy, a collection of unique characters who come to life through the art of needle felting.

We have been traveling and collecting all of our lives.Born in the back of a truck to a trapeze artist mother, we spent our formative years traveling with the circus. At 16 we set out on our own to find our place in the world.

Fall Blooms...

Oooh... this time of year is my favorite.
I absolutely love everything about fall...
The leaves changing, the crispness in the air, the perpetual coziness, the pumpkin everything...
and, is it just me or does coffee taste so much better in the fall?

Lately though, I've been so busy.
I've not been able to revel in fall as much as I've wanted to...

I travel a lot for work
and in the past two weeks I will have been to 6 different states and in 4 different time zones.
In addition to my regular job, I started teaching this year...
just two little classes on-line...
but they require a lot of me.
I'm also still working on my graduate degree...
It's a 60 credit hum dinger.

The neat thing though, is that even though I haven't been able to "soak in" fall as much as I'd like to...
(read: endless Gilmore Girls marathons and pumpkin patch weekends)
I've still found bits and pieces of it here and there throughout my weeks...

Case in point:
These fun little autumn inspired "Blooms" I made this week during some rare down time...

They're up in the SHOP now Lovelies...

kisses & crunchy leaves,
Hansie

I love me some back wrinkles!

You might remember that a little bit ago my friend Siv had a baby shower.
For her shower, EttaGrace put together a little baby headband making kit.

We organized a little craft corner at the shower and had the guests come up and create their own unique little headband using EttaGrace blossoms and petals.

It was a huge success and the headbands turned out so lovely.

Well, Siv had baby Sof a little bit ago. And of course... she had to model some of her sweet EttaGrace headbands...
So, get ready... baby "back fat" and all...
Meet baby Sof- Our cutest model ever!

You like Baby Sof''s photographer? We think she's genius! Visit her blog here!

Isn't baby Sof the ca-utest!?!?!? Ugh... death of me... she's so stinkin' adorable!

In the very near future we'll be adding this item to our shop!
What do you think? You like???

smooches-

Hans.

Happy Monday! The weekend in review...

This. Weekend. Was. Baaaaaah-zurk!
For realz loves.
It was (not kidding) 104 in Chicago... and...
I was literally running a mile a minute
(sadly this is no where near the actual pace I've been running during my half marathon training lately... humph....)

This weekend I...

-Sewed... sewed... and sewed some more...
-Hung out with two cute characters... she speaks British... he speaks "new yorker"... it's a fun combo.
- Spent a few hours roasting in the sun at our church picnic.
- Prepared some custom EttaGrace orders to be shipped! Hip hip hooray!
-Worked... for realz worked... wrote curriculum... which is almost as exciting as it sounds... almost.
-Lay around a bit (C'mon... no matter how busy a weekend is... it's still the weekend!)
-Shopped a bit with Elz-a-Bells.
-Went for an early morning run with the Hubs.
-Drank a few quad espressos over ice... sigh... so good.
-BBQ'd with a baby on a rooftop deck downtown.

It was a good weekend... but now I'm pooped! I need a weekend to recover from my weekend... Ha!
Fortunately we get another one in just 5 little days...
Happy Monday Loves!

xoxo- Hansie

PS. Don't forget to link up with an outfit where you flaunt some animal print on Wednesday for Clothes Stealers!

Lizzy:Snake Woman-Rachel's five for five

This week I get to house sit for my aunt.
I am supra exited because she lives right downtown a couple of blocks from the lake, and my dream is to one day be a fish in a very polluted, deep glacial lake.
Today I got to spend the day with my mom and sister at Silverwood, the area theme park.
Usually the theme is lame but
not this time, because I two of my three favorite women were by my side (the third being beyonce...jk hansie....no but really).

so it looks like ALL of my favorite things of this week are coming from just this one little thursday.
Numbah 1: Sending my little brother able in to the gas station to pick me up  a Lemon zest Luna Bar, only to have him return with a box of Powermint tic-tacs because he remembered "that one time I was talking about breath mints."
Numbwah: Little sister Ina on the carousel- "I can be three things at once. Scared, happy and ticklish. Right now I am two of those three things."
Number 3: Getting soaked on the riley rapids ride...less from the actual ride and more from our fellow passengers puddle stomping exit.
Number 4: Dippin Dots....the ice cream of the future
Numero 5: So many fancy photos my momsie took at the amusement park (all the photos on this post are by her...nice mom, many more photos to come!)

racha

The Weekend in Review...

Dear,

This weekend was stuffed to the brim with lovely goodness!

"Build your own" pizza night with cute friends from out of town and a new baby!
Joann runs with my girls
Mexican food... yum!
Church... so good!
Sewing, sewing and more sewing... ;)

But the highlight... was date night with the Hubs...

Some fabulous friends of ours gave us a groupon for two free hours of kayaking...
It was lovely!
After kayaking, Hubs and I picked up a baguette and fancy cheese...

With dinner in hand we headed to the park to watch a movie
Chicago does a fantastic job of showing free movies during the summer in parks throughout the city!
We saw the Karate kid and held hands...
It was the perfect night!

How was your weekend lovelies??

The surprise party everyone knew about: Rachel's weekend in review

Dearest:

such a fluffy pair!
what pretty patterns our unwashed windows make!

the cake couldn't even keep it together for the party
Sister-in-love (ohmuhwerd, I hate when people say that) Laura's 24th was this saturday...and it seemed we all did our hardest to make sure that she knew we were throwing her a surprise party.

Exhibit A: Mike sends Jama'ie a text about the party
Jama'ie proceeds to respond to text by way of Laura.
Laura responds with "You're not very good at this are you..."

Exhibit B: Mike takes Laura out back behind their apartment so that we can decorate.
Ian shows up late to decorating and
walks around back.
Mike see's him, excuses himself from Laura and tells Ian to keep it down and head inside
Ian responds with,
"why does everyone keep shushing me?!"

Exhibit C: Despite our best efforts to keep quiet while decorating,
Laura hears us.

Oh well, maybe we'll get her next time.
