I pretty much live in it all summer...

and because I'm a little clingy, it can be tough for me to transition to thicker, warmer dresses in the fall.

I just love it in all of it's faded, over-worn, cotton-y goodness...

So this is my attempt to "steal from summer" to revel in fall.

Rachey Pooh and I are eight years apart. 

Most of the time I don't notice any difference.

Because...

*We both have a deep love for Mariah, Whitney and the children of Destiny. 

*We both understand how there is nothing quite like eating a baguette with brie while sitting on cobblestone somewhere in France.

*We both despise cats. 

*We both are nerds who love school.

*We are both already listening to Christmas music.

*We both luuuurve Anthropologie, J. Crew and EmersonMade.

*We both think "You Got Served" is one of the best, worst movies ever.

Clothes Stealers: Calling All Male Models... or... What to do when your brother steals grandpa's vest.

The following is a tutorial on how to get your ca-ute as a button little bro-ha-ha to do a photo shoot for your fancy blog.

1. Tell him you'll drive him to his friend's house. Then pull over at a deserted location on the way.
He may look a bit shocked, but it'll be ok... promise.

2. You may have to be extra sneaky... sometimes being sneaky includes hiding.

3. Ease him into the photo shoot by convincing him that you want to take some family pics of him and the lil' sis.

4. Give him a big hug and then tell him to just dance.

Brother: shirt- hanes. vest- grandpas. jeans-stolen from older brother. shoes- thrifted.

Sister: Pouf- ettagrace. dress- missoni for target. shoes- target

5. Sometimes his dancing will start slow with the tapping of just a foot.

6. Then it might get a little weird.

7. But in between you'll see some pretty good model action...

8. And get just what you need to write your blog.

Now take that little bro-ha-ha of yours out for an orange mocha frappacino...

Good news is that since you have 6 brothers (er, is that just Rachey Pooh and I?) you won't be at a loss for fun posts!

Guys! Big news... I'm officially an adjunct professor at the college I work for!!!!!

Wahoo!!! Yippee!!! Hooray!!!

This fall I have the privilege of teaching two classes on-line... it's sup-ra exciting... 

And- a tad overwhelming... I have reverse syllabus shock hard-core...

I think I might be more nervous than the freshman I'm teaching... 

But, I'm two weeks in to class already

and so far so good... 

In fact, I already have my stern "lecture" face down pat!

About a year ago I ran into a friend of mine at school and she said, "Rachel, funniest thing, I was walking downtown and I saw your bike and as I was looking at it

I saw this homeless person walk up and unlock it. I was about to stop them...

but then I realized that it was just you."

About a year before that

my secret sister at bible school

wrote a poem about 

how people think I'm homeless

and gave it to me as a gift.

If I can get away with wearing my dad's old bathrobe as a cardigan in public,

even if I can't get away with it,

I will try my hardest to.

You should know... I have a fear of looking like a home-schooler... almost... always.

It's brutal... it affects the clothes I wear... the way I cut and style my hair... brutal people.

So... after looking at the pics of this outfit... I'm definitely feeling like I was working the "home-schooler" in me... I think I could have mixed it up a bit more with a funky scarf... or boots... hmmm... next time.

*** It is important to note that I love home-schoolers... In fact for about 3 years, I myself was home-schooled... that said... there are many incorrect connotations and broad generalizations made about what a home-schooler looks like... it is these generalizations that I fear being tied to... not the actual home-schooler community... in all reality... very few home-schoolers I know actually look like "home-schooler"... catch my drift? now go ahead and delete that hate mail you just drafted in your e-mail.

A large chunk of it is dedicated to Beyonce.

I go to the gym in between classes. Specifically, Animal Behavior and Physics because I know, I know, that I will not go otherwise. As a result, I often wear gym clothes as regular clothes and stuff my running shoes in my backpack. Some say that it's gross that I wear my sweated worked outed clothes to physics (I like to time it just perfectly that I have ten minutes to get to class after I've gym-ed myself). But I like to think of it as economical.

Time efficiency is my very important to me.

So, while walking to get picked up by my lil' sproutling (we were going to snag a beautiful 15$ mustard couch at the WSU surplus sale. We ended up missing out on it, didn't get there early enough…why do I take 8:30 AM classes?) I got to sneak a listen on this hilarious snippet of conversation.

Scene: two women, mid 50s speaking to each other about the state of various roadways...

Woman #1: "…it was great. The whole city was on a grid, so easy to get around. Not at all like Paris."

[cue both women laughing]

Woman #2: "You know, I've never got around to Paris. Usually, I just look at pictures and that's enough."

HA! How wonderful is that?

Now none of us have to go!
